All Viewing Angle – Display can enhance viewing angles to 180 degrees horizontal and 120 degrees vertical

CCFL
Cold Cathode Fluorescent lamp – Fluorescent tube used for backlight

COB
Chip On board – An IC chip is mounted onto a printed circuit board and wire bonding

COF
Chip On Flex – A chip product is mounted on a FPC

EL
Electro luminescence – Light generated by an electric field. An EL layer is formed on a high molecular weight film and is used as an EL light source for a liquid crystal display.

FSTN
Film Super Twisted Nematic – An optically compensated film is added to a STN, and is used as a monochrome display.

KALA™
Mono Colour LCD – Display with intrinsic colour combinations as green on red background or yellow on blue background.

¼ VGA
320x240 dots – Numbers of dots on a graphic screen

LED
Light Emitting Diode – A diode that emits light for backlight

MIRA™
Mirror-like – Display with mirror effect in the reflector

Monochrome
Black and white display

Nanochromic
Special display from Ntera with white background and blue characters

Nematic
Technical indication for the crystals used in the display.

OLED
Organic Light-Emitting Diode (OLED) Display Panel, or Organic Electroluminescence (OEL), possesses the new generation technologies that other flat displays are hard to accomplish –brighter and clearer full color images with more agile responding speed.
- AMOLED: Active Matrix Organic Light-Emitting Diode (AMOLED) displays combine, the benefits of Organic Light-emitting technology, i.e brighter and clearer, richer images with those of an active matrix technology (as used on TFTs).

PCB
Printed Circuit Board

Reflective
The reflector is placed on the backside of the LCD glass. Used when display is without backlight. The reflector reflects the light coming in front of the display.

STN
Super Twisted Nematic – A nematic liquid crystal with a twist of 180 degrees to 270 degrees

TAB
Tape Automated Bonding – Is an approach to fine the pitch interconnection of a chip to a leadframe. Pitches down to 200µm is possible

TN
Twisted Nematic – A nematic liquid crystal with a teist of 90 degrees

Transflective
The transflector is placed between the glass and backlight. It combinate the use of backlight and also reflect the light coming in front e.g. when sunlight is in front of the LCD.

Transmissiv
An indication for transmissive LCD glass. It is a must to use backlight with this glass.
